Student testimonial: Thais Yuriko Midorikawa Brazil BEng Hons Computer and Electronic Systems Engineering GCU primarily caught my attention because its programmes offer such innovative and useful modules. I am particularly enjoying tackling challenging projects that integrate practical and theoretical knowledge as well as learning how to use software that will be essential to my career as an engineer. As an exchange student on the Science Without Borders programme, I was able to make friends with people from other countries in GCU’s accommodation and at social events, which gave me a valuable insight into other cultures. GCU’s attentive staff and modern library made my time at the university easier, and the University offers so many opportunities to be part of clubs and societies. Living here, I could get to know Scotland well. Its amazing myths, stunning landscapes and very friendly and helpful people inspired me to learn more about the culture and enrol in fiddle classes in traditional Scottish music. Besides Glasgow’s splendid parks, attractions and people, I was impressed by how many great musicians can be found playing in the streets all the time. Studying at GCU is an irreplaceable experience. 21 Want to get in touch with previous GCU students from your country? Go to www.gcu.ac.uk/alumni
