A COLLEGE FOR GENTLEMEN Every freshman receives a copy of H-SC’s own etiquette guide, To Manner Born, To Manners Bred. The guide, now in its 7th edition, was written in 1978 by Thomas Shomo ’69. It has been revised over the years to address evolving social traditions and new social challenges faced by the modern gentleman, such as smart phones and e-mail. My Favorite Class My favorite class this semester is Religion. The class has provided a window into other cultures. It has helped me understand why people do what they do and think what they think. In the process, I’ve broadened my perspective and deepened my level of cultural literacy. My Opinions are Valued I was surprised to discover that most College organizations and campus events are student-run. Because we have a voice in how things are done here, H-SC really feels like our college. Daniel Q. Don’t be afraid to push yourself—it’s the only way to become the man you want to be. “The College offers many things, but the most important is the chance to do great things. Every student has the opportunity to succeed.” Alarm goes off, get ready for classes Watch ESPN, CNN, MSNBC to get the news of the day Head to the dining hall for a quick breakfast Classes Football meeting and Team weight lifting and conditioning Lunch in the Commons Classes Call home Hang out with teammates and listen to hype music before practice Football practice “Family” dinner in town with teammates Homework Visit with friends Call it a day 7:30 am 7:50 8:15 8:30- 10:30 11:30 12:30 pm 1:30 - 3:00 3:00 3:30 4:15 6:00 7:30 - 10:30 10:30 11:00
