Under £40 winners 1 Loch Lomond Single Grain – Loch Lomond Group/Glen Scotia Distillery Judges scores 3.5, 4.75, 2.5, 4.5, 4.5, 2.5, 3.6, 4 Overall score 22.6 Tasting notes from Vicky On the nose, dark muscovado sugar with a touch of smoke in the background. Nutmeg, fi ve spice and blood oranges baked in sugar on the palate. 2 Glen Scotia Double Cask – Loch Lomond Group/Glen Scotia Distillery Judges scores 2.25, 4.85, 4.25, 5, 3.5, 2, 4.7, 2.8 Overall score 22.35 Tasting notes from Ewan Woody, rich and complex, with caramel and salt. Satisfying, with a long and oily fi nish. 3The GlenDronach Peated – BenRiach Distillery Co Judges scores 2.5, 4.25, 3.5, 3, 3.5, 3.5, 4.4, 3.8 Overall score 21.55 Tasting notes from Robin A surprisingly sweet palate with fi gs, honey, sweet spices, vanilla and honeycomb. A dry fi nish with a lovely smoky, spicy fi nale. £40-£80 winners 1 Glen Scotia 15yo – Loch Lomond Group/Glen Scotia Distillery Judges scores 2.5, 4.99, 3, 3.5, 4, 5, 4.2, 4.3 Overall score 23.99 Tasting notes from Shane Copper with marmalade, thyme and lavender honey. The fi nish is fl owery and sweet, with nougat and old oak. 2 Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength – J&G Grant Judges scores 3.5, 4.25, 2, 3.75, 4, 4, 4.5, 4.1 Overall score 23.6 Tasting notes from Douglas This is a loud whisky, with sweet and grassy notes. Dry, youthful and powerful. 3 Inchmurrin 12yo – Loch Lomond Group/Glen Scotia Distillery Judges scores 2.25, 4.35, 3, 5, 4, 4.5, 3.1, 3.9 Overall score 22.85 Tasting notes from Darren Floral notes and milky chocolate, then Earl Grey and a slightly oaked fi nish.
