This means that Bright World drivers may have to travel far when transferring students to and from school and long distances often mean high fares for parents. We always encourage students travelling on the same flight and who are at the same school to share a taxi to save parents money. To further improve things for our clients, Travel and Accommodation Manager, Leanne Poole is now on a mission to save parents more money when it comes to booking school transfers. Leanne has been busy getting in touch with our partner schools to discuss the possibility of us using school transportation more. With this new information, the Travel and Accommodation team will be able to analyse whether the student will be saving money by booking with a school transport service instead of a taxi company. Leanne has also been contacting our current taxi companies so that we can fully utilise their services. The department will now start allocating more local jobs to our taxi drivers, that could potentially reduce the cost of transfers for our clients. So who will be driving our students? • A driver who is known to us and of whom you will have received a full colour profile for. The profile will include their mobile number and colour photo. The profile will be sent to you via email, ahead of the journey but will also be accessible to you anytime within our portal, Blink. • A driver who has undergone an individual enhanced DBS (Criminal Record Check) and from a company who has signed and agreed to our Transfer Company Charter. • A driver who has knowledge of the UK airport terminals and is accustomed to driving international students • A driver who is directly accredited with the LTDA (The Licensed Taxi Drivers Association) and who has a valid UK driving licence. • We also ask ALL our drivers to complete Level 1 Child Protection & Safeguarding Awareness training by SAFE (Safeguarding Associates for Excellence.) When you are applying, and securing a place for your child at an Independent UK Boarding School, safe transportation is quite understandably not always at the top of the list of things to arrange. However, when the driver is the first person to meet your child when they arrive in the UK, a trusted driver is in our minds a must. As a reliable UK guardianship organisation, we have strict policies and rules surrounding the arrangement of transport for our students and the recruitment of drivers. To read more about how we recruit our drivers, please ask a member of our team for a copy of our new Parent Guide or contact us for more information. ‘If we can see that a journey would cost less if organised by the school and fits in with their schedule, then we will be contacting the student’s family to inform them. Travel adds a significant sum to the cost of studying in the UK and our aim is to save our customers money. Leanne Poole Travel and Accommodation Manager
