Some words of
Look out and choose a guardian who is displaying the AEGIS logo. AEGIS (The Association for The
Education & Guardianship for International Students) offers parents the only benchmark for good
guardianship in the UK. The Charity employs ISI and Ofsted trained inspectors to re-inspect their
member Guardianship Organisations every four years.
Think before you buy
All I will say to anyone who feels they want a cheap programme, is that we fill in gaps in the
student journey where I believe a child is more at risk and vulnerable than at any other time.
Hours in taxis with a driver on their own, days and nights in a stranger’s home with no one
supervising, hours and hours of time where they could be doing anything if they are not being
taken care of by responsible and caring adults. And no – we do not offer different levels of
guardianship. At Bright World, we believe that all children should get the same top level of care
and could never prioritise one child above another.
Top-quality guardianship does not come cheap
From someone who invests tens of thousands of pounds each year on screening our drivers, host
families, staff and volunteers and reviewing that screening on a regular basis, I am telling you it
does not come cheap.
When it comes to guardianship, maintain the same approach as for your child’s education and
schooling, and think twice before buying anything other than the best you can afford.
