
Regulation of Immigration Advice
Immigration and Visa Advice should be given only by the trained staff in Visa Immigration Support and Advice (VISA)
Team at GCU. If you have been given guidance from anyone else, please contact the VISA Team directly. As an educational
institution licensed by the Home Office to bring in migrants from outside the EEA, the VISA Team at GCU is permitted to
provide immigration advice to sponsored migrants, those we intend to sponsor under the terms of the sponsorship licence,
and to their immediate family members and dependants. The OISC (Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner) is an
independent organisation that monitors immigration advice and services. The VISA Team at GCU is regulated by OISC and
is permitted to provide advice under the Ministerial Exemption Order. Should you have a complaint about the service you
can use the university’s complaints procedure or you can use the OISC Complaints Scheme. Glasgow Caledonian University
is a member of UKCISA: The Council for International Student Affairs, the VISA Team maintain their specialist and expert
knowledge in the form of training, regular briefings, forums and access to the UKCISA telephone advice line.
