What documents do I need for my
All documents submitted with your visa
application must be originals. UK Visas
and Immigration (UKVI) will not accept
photocopies, scans, faxes, emails or
other copies of your documents.
If any of your documents are not in
English or Welsh, the original must be
accompanied by a full translation that
can be independently verified by UKVI.

• You will need a valid CAS number
to complete your Tier 4 (General)
Student visa application. Without it,
you will not be able to make a valid
application for the visa.
• It is a virtual document that confirms
the CAS Number, a 14-digit alphanumeric
reference number. The
university provides mandatory
information about your studies to the
Home Office through their Sponsor
Management System which provides
the unique CAS reference number.
• The CAS Number is included in
your visa application – this allows
the UKVI caseworker to access
your information electronically. No
additional documents are required as
evidence of the CAS.
• The CAS remains valid for only six
months and can only be used within
three months of the course start date.
• A CAS Number can only be used once
- if your visa application is refused, you
will need a new CAS to reapply. You
cannot use your CAS after the latest
start date of your course.

Original English Language
Qualification if required as
stated on your CAS
Academic Technology Approval
Scheme (ATAS) Certificate if
UKVI approved translations for
any documents not in English/
TB Test Certificate if required
Original Financial Evidence
