A COLLEGE FOR PATRIOTS H-SC graduates have a long history of military service to our nation. Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) develops the confidence, self-esteem, motivation, and leadership skills you‘ll need in any career. A Hampden-Sydney Man is never without a friend, wherever he may go in the world. Because while you leave the campus when you graduate, you always remain part of our community. As an alumnus, you join distinguished company that includes leaders in every field from education to the arts, business to law, politics to medicine; among our alumni, one in ten is president or CEO of a business. That means you will find unexpected connections in unanticipated places. You will walk in the footsteps of inspiring role models. And whenever you meet another Hampden-Sydney Man, you will know that you have met a brother in spirit: a good man and a good citizen. “I visited Hampden-Sydney like many guys do, as ‘another spring break college tour that mom made me go on.’ However, the second I stepped foot on campus, I immediately fell in love with the school. The beautiful campus, along with the sense of brotherhood between students, was overwhelming for my parents and me. That visit changed my life.” JACOB O. EDMONDS, Sophomore Moseley, VA “This college is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Many opportunities have come to me because of attending this truly fantastic liberal arts college.” WILLIAM E. RICKETTS, Freshman Chesapeake, VA “There is wide acceptance of people at H-SC, born of the tight brotherhood we enjoy here.” SHANE H. ARCEO, Freshman Newport News, VA A Symbol of Honor: THE H-SC BELT While you might get a reaction for wearing a t-shirt from last year’s NCAA National Championship football team, you are more likely to get a job offer for wearing the Hampden-Sydney belt. Emblazoned with the College’s Coat of Arms, our men wear it with pride. From the subway in Beijing to the corner gas station in Anytown, USA, the belt is easily recognized by alumni and friends of the College. Their stories about connections made because of it are countless.
