The nursery is fully commissioned for Pre-school education and our fully trained and highly professional staff team have created a warm, welcoming and safe environment for the children to enjoy stimulating learning experiences through play while accessing fully the curriculum for excellence. We offer the children the Forest Schools experience with our lovely natural wooded play area for the children to explore and develop their independence and consideration for others while leaning for themselves to assess safe risk taking. The Forest Schools area also boasts a Fire Hut complete with a ‘child safe’ open fi re where the children are offered different experiences from simple science to cooking lessons. The nursery staff were particularly delighted to be chosen as fi nalists in both of the categories we entered in the Scotland wide Nursery of the Year competition run by Nursery Management Today. A real achievement and acknowledgement of the hard work and very high standards the staff aspire to. We warmly welcome and encourage parental involvement with the nursery in all areas, and especially with all our Eco and Forest school endeavours. Please call Jennifer or Jean on 01546 600072 Children and staff of Oban’s 1st Steps Day Nursery fi lled over 40 shoeboxes with essential and luxury items to send to people in need last Christmas, all gathered in the nursery’s new extension Oban 1st Steps nursery is a safe, happy, caring and stimulating environment, where all the staff want the best for the children and parents. It has been described as a ‘little paradise’ where every detail has been thought about to make sure every child has the best possible start in life. In our loving, caring environment, our children are listened to, respected and valued. At Oban 1st Steps we believe that the chance to learn is all around us and every child should grow in their own unique way exploring their own abilities without limitations and that is why our indoor and outdoor learning environments are specially designed to inspire. In the established mature garden children can play, be active and grow their own plants, fruit and vegetables. Children are then able to prepare some of their own produce and taste it. Oban 1st Steps Nursery is committed to providing nutritious healthy meals for children in a setting that allows them to share meal times together, including breakfast, lunch and tea daily. Our new hub is now fully open and we have increased to a 59 place setting. All children, including Babies and Tweenies, can now be offered half day sessions - please call for further information.
