Loving Yoga By Ruth Paterson Valentine’s Day is usually meant for the special people in our lives, but why not make this year all about you? You are the most important person in your life so start treating yourself the way you deserve. Begin the journey of selflove with these simple steps: 1. Look in the mirror every morning and tell that person looking back at you that you love them and that they're special. 2. Stop comparing yourself to others. Everyone is different and on his or her own path. 3. Stop consuming media that makes you feel inadequate. Airbrushed models, make-up adverts and ripped six-packs make us feel like we are striving for an ideal that does not even exist. 4. Get some exercise! Walking, jogging, swimming, playing tennis, doing yoga - it all counts! Choose something you love to do rather than punishing yourself. 5. Cultivate a 'safe-space'. Where do you feel most relaxed, happy and peaceful? It could be a local forest, your sofa or the gym. Know that you can go there (or visualise it) whenever you feel anxious or stressed. Make this your feel-better time. Self love takes time to develop and some days are better than others but with a little bit of effort every day, and a lot of patience, you will begin to feel the love! Have a happy Valentine's!
