Welcome to Oban Sportive 2020
North Argyll Cycle Club is
hosting the Oban Sportive on
the weekend of May 9 and 10.
The Sportive is run over
two courses of 56 & 87 miles
along quiet back roads on
Scotland’s Scenic Adventure
Coast. Oban Sportive starts
and fi nishes under the iconic
archway of The Oban Distillery.
Setting off at 8am and
passing Lochs Nell & Feochan
then across country to pick
up Loch Awe. You will ride
through some of the most
stunning scenery in the UK,
with marked routes, food stops
and a real Scottish welcome!
The Ben Cruachan Inn Hill
Climb is held on Saturday 9th
May where riders pit their legs
against one of the most spectacular
and steep sections of
closed road in Scotland. Climbing
1200 feet over 3.2 miles to
The Drax Cruachan Dam giving
a good warm up before the
main event on Sunday. This
event is open to all whether you
are doing the Sportive or not.
A fantastic opportunity to take
in some of Argyll’s best views.
Oban Distillery are hosting
guest speaker “The Flying
Scotsman – GRAEME OBREE”,
the evening before the main
event on Saturday May 9.
Graeme Obree’s career has
been an inspiration to cyclists
across the world. A unique
talent, Graeme has achieved
extraordinary milestones
including two UCI World Hour
Records. Many know him best
as the man who designed and
built the Washing Machine
Bike, which was recently voted
the world’s most famous bike.
Finishing at Oban Distillery,
riders and spectators can
take advantage of the distillery
and local cafes. Come
down and watch the riders
set off and return to Oban.
