Welcome to the August issue of West Coast Review!
A glance at any local events calendar will tell you that the agricultural show
season is well and truly under way. These community events are almost always
organised by volunteers, who put a lot of time, effort and passion into ensuring
their success, and they are a fantastic showcase for local talent in all its forms.
This issue we celebrate shows across the region, with a round-up of what’s
coming up, and some refl ections on their importance. If you have never been
to a show before, why not make this the year you go along? And if you’re going
anyway, why not support the event even more, by entering one of the classes.
Good weather is never guaranteed, but great craic is – we look forward to
seeing you there with your wellies on.
Our celebration of Highland traditions continues with an Exercise and Me
feature on Highland dancing, an activity which instructor Isla Sinclair confi rms
is going strong locally.
There is plenty to do in our corner of Argyll in the coming weeks – and you can
fi nd out what’s happening near you in our What’s On pages. We are looking
forward to seeing some fantastic themed entries in Oban Lions Club’s Great
Oban Bay Raft Race on August 11.
West Coast Review is a community magazine, and we want to
