Welcome to the July issue of West Coast Review!
As summer's sunshine and showers bring Argyll to life, many of us turn our
thoughts to summer holidays – booking them, if we haven't already, and
planning and packing, if we have. But a holiday is a luxury that not all of our
neighbours can enjoy, and for those who spend their days and nights caring for
others, it can be a distant dream.
In this issue, we are helping North Argyll Carers Centre to launch their new
'Respitality' project, which aims to give local carers a wee break – perhaps
a night or two in one of our wonderful local hotels or guest houses, or dinner
in a local restaurant. The more we learn about the dedication of this region's
hard-working and often unappreciated carers, the more we feel a little bit of
luxury is well deserved.
This issue also sees the start of our Nature Notebook, which is set to become
a regular feature. The west of Scotland is home to incredible wildlife, and we
residents can delight in it every bit as much as visitors – so we have asked
the rangers of Knapdale's Heart of Argyll Wildlife organisation to share their
tips about sites and species to keep your eyes peeled for at this time of year.
West Coast Review is a community magazine, and we want to
celebrate and share your activities and achievements. If you have a
story that you would like to tell, or you want to fi ll us in about your
event, project or campaign, do get in touch and share your news.
