A mum’s mission to get life-saving medical supplies out to
Yazidi refugees in Iraq has left the UK. Fiona Bennett from
North Connel, whose story appeared in The Oban Times
earlier this year, raised the £10,000 needed to get the
cargo to two hospitals and a mobile clinic in Sinjar.

The sun was shining as parents, pupils and staff gathered
at Mossfi eld Stadium for St Columba’s sports day. The
afternoon’s events got under way after Oban High School
Pipe Band, accompanied by St Columba’s School pipers
Calan and Sam, piped the clans into the stadium.
Youngsters from fi ve primary schools recently teamed up for fun and games. Pupils at Kilchrenan Primary School had the
task of organising this year’s sports day, which was hosted by Strath of Appin Primary School. Other schools taking part
in the event included Barcaldine, Achaleven and Lismore.
