Manor House Hotel – Georgian
elegance on beautiful Oban Bay
WEST COAST REVIEW | 19
Autumn is a wonderful time to celebrate
at the Manor House Hotel in
Oban.
Built around 1780 as a dower house for the
Duke of Argyll, the Manor House is a four-star,
deluxe boutique hotel and fi ne dining experience.
Set on the southern side of Oban Harbour,
with stunning views of the town, McCaig’s
Tower and the isles, it’s a lovely and tranquil
setting in which to enjoy a special meal. The
fi ne linens and tableware create a traditional,
yet relaxed, atmosphere, perfect for dining à
deux, or celebrating a special occasion.
The menu changes daily, featuring the freshest
ingredients from Scotland’s abundant larder.
The menu is offered as a fi ve-course prix fi xe,
but those with smaller appetites can choose
from the a la carte menu.
Head chef Gerard, who has been at the Manor
House for six months, shows an incredible
knowledge and understanding of fi ne foods
and maintains high standards in preparation
and presentation of his creative dishes. In addition
to local seafood and meats, Gerard always
has a vegetarian dish on the menu. And
be sure to leave room for a special dessert or
a coffee and selection of petit fours. Drop in
for lunch at Nelson’s Bar to enjoy daily special
sandwiches, salads and entrées in addition to
standard favourites.
