The Rotary Club of Oban’s president for 2018/19 is local
man Iain MacIntyre. Iain, who was a founder member of
Oban Saints FC and and a stalwart for Oban Camanachd
for many years, retired to Oban with his wife following a
successful banking career with the pre-HBOS Bank of
Scotland.
A family journeyed 11,000 miles from New Zealand to
Oban on Friday to scatter a relative’s ashes into the bay.
Veterinary surgeon John Mont gomery, who died two years
ago, spent most of his life overseas but, for him, Oban was
always his home.
Ganavan Sands parkrun has celebrated its second birthday. Runners, joggers and walkers turned up on a recent
Saturday to take part in the 101st ‘run’ since it started in 2016. Party hats and silly socks were the dress code for the
special occasion.
